Improving Web Design Article

When I saw this article it caught my eye because of the way it presented its information. This article entitled “9 Essential Principles for good Web Design” is very easy to follow and offers a lot of helpful tips. The article is broken up into nine helpful principles including precedence, spacing, navigation, design to build, typography, usability, alignment, clarity and consistency. This article is very easy to follow and offers a lot of helpful information. It talks about how the designer should use the design of the web page to guide the user. The article also talks about how all empty space does not need to be filled, in fact it is probably better left empty, or else it may look too cluttered. The article addresses that it is helpful if the structure of the site is conceived, before the task of creating it is undertaken. It also addresses what font to use, font size, color, spacing, line length and paragraphing. It addresses that certain fonts should be used to convey certain messages, for example some fonts look more modern then others, or some fonts look more retro. This article is important because it doesn’t tell you how to build a web site, but rather addresses issues that will help make a web site more professional, attractive and usable. This is great because I have an understanding of how to make a web site, now I can use this information to make my designs better and more effective.
